History
Remember the days of old; consider the years of many generations; ask your father, and he will show you, your elders, and they will tell you – Deuteronomy 32:7
At St. Mark’s Catholic Primary School we follow the National Curriculum (2014) for History. Studying history gives pupils the opportunity to develop an understanding of why the world and its people are the way they are today. Pupils are able to ask questions as they explore the diversity of human experience, past lives and societies.
By the end of their primary education, children will have a chronological understand of British history from the Stone Age to present day and are able to draw comparisons and make connections between different time periods and their own lives. Children will also look at world history; in Year 3 the children will explore ancient civilisations of Egypt, in Year 4 the Mayans and Year 5 Greece.
