Competitions at St Mark's
Our Intent
At St.Mark’s we participate in various levels of competition,
ranging from personal competition, class competition, intracompetition and inter-competition.
We strive to ensure that all pupils experience competition, and
their experience is the right level of competition for them.
Our intent with competition is:
• To develop sports specific skills
• To aid physical development
• To develop emotional and social skills
• To improve health
• To develop teamwork
• To develop individual performance
• To increase motivation and desire to participate
• To experience competition
PE Kit
Please ensure that your child comes to school in their PE kit on their designated PE day. It is important that all items are clearly labelled. If you are experiencing difficulties with the cost of the uniform please contact Dr Keller who may be able to assist.
• White polo (with school badge)
• Navy Shorts
• Navy tracksuit top (with school badge)
• Navy tracksuit bottoms
• Navy socks
• White or black trainers – please ensure your child can do these up
without assistance
• Gloves and a plain hat, both suitable for sports, for colder months
• KS2 will require shin pads and long navy socks for football and hockey units. You will be advised in advance of these units. Hair longer than shoulder length must be tied back.
Following guidance from the Association for Physical Education (AfPE) regarding the wearing of earrings in PE we have taken the decision to ask that earrings are removed for PE; preferably in the morning before coming into school on the days pupils have PE, swimming or after school sports clubs. This is to ensure the safety of all our pupils during physical activity. It will no longer be deemed sufficient to tape earrings as we cannot be certain that the taping is sufficiently adequate to prevent injury.
